Born and raised in West Texas, I started my college career at Baylor University. I married my high school sweetheart, Bill Shouse, and we both transferred to Texas Tech University, where we both graduated. After we moved to Denver, I received my second Bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado.
In Denver I worked as a Certified Medical Technologist for the University of Colorado Medical Center Hospital. We enjoyed four seasons of weather, backpacking, trout fishing, and snow skiing, and we had our first child. Soon after that we moved back to Texas, to be closer to grandparents and family. With encouragement from Bill, I applied for and was accepted into the Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center of San Antonio. During my medical training, we were blessed with our second child. Even though medical school was time consuming and always challenging, our little family thrived. Bill was the most supportive loving father, breadwinner, and husband! I could not have survived medical school without his help!
During many long hours in training I loved surgery and dermatology, but Pediatrics won my heart! I love the happy blend of providing healthy preventive care, restoring sick children back to health, and helping parents nurture their precious children. After medical school I completed pediatric residency training at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas.
After residency I started Pediatric Associates of Plano with Dr. Phyllis Stone. Since then we added 3 additional partners, and Phyllis has retired. Every day I work hard to provide each patient with the best possible medical care, in a nurturing environment. Having children of my own helps me to empathize with parents of sick children. Newborn care is one of my favorite areas of pediatrics. I love celebrating with new parents having their first baby! and their second! Really Every baby is a miracle and a gift from God! Parenting is a skill that I hope to nurture at each visit. I do believe in preventive care with immunizations. Natural remedies are fine. Please let me know if you are using them to supplement my traditional medical care.
I live in Frisco, and I love to work in the yard. Landscape design and digging in the dirt are great therapy for me! I grow perennial flowers, a small collection of hybrid daylilies, and a vegetable garden. I love to travel, the mountains and Hawaii being my favorites. And my newest love is my first grandbaby!
I hope to meet you soon! Call for an interview or your first appointment! We have an awesome staff ready to serve you. It will be my honor and a privilege to serve as your child’s pediatrician! Hope to see you soon!
